The 5 Best Beaches in The World

If you're ready to get away and take the family to a beach that's relaxing and entertaining for adults, but that still keeps the trip fun and exciting for the kids, we've compiled a list of the top 5 beaches in the world for families. So, let's start the countdown from number five and work our way to the very best beach.

5. Trunk Bay, St. John in the Virgin Islands

Trunk Bay is part of the Virgin Islands National Park, and probably the least known beach in our list. But, it is one of the best kept secrets of the Virgin Islands. With the offshore coral reefs, Trunk Bay beach is considered the best on the island of St. John.

Visitors can lounge in the sun, or explore the coral reefs in the pristine waters off the coast of St. John. You can even try your hand at underwater photography with the snorkeling equipment rentals available. For more adventure you can take the family hiking into the park to see old sugar plantations and the history of St. John.

4. Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is a popular hotspot and home to some of the best beaches in the world. The best time of the year to visit this Mexican paradise is around November or December. You'll avoid the spring breakers and the tropical storm season that usually hits in September or October. It's also the best time to get a deal, and when traveling as a family, good rates are important.

Since you'll want to find accommodations close to or on the beach, you'll find your best bets on the famous Hotel Zone, which is a 14 mile peninsula into the Caribbean Sea. Our pick for the best hotel in Cancun is the Barcelo Costa situated on the Playa Linda Beach in Cancun. This resort is close to the golf course, shopping and of course, the beach.

3. St. Tropez, France

Most people think of Hollywood stars and clothing optional beaches when they hear St. Tropez. However, there are several family friendly beaches in St. Tropez that feature beach playgrounds, and places to find snacks for the kids. Stay away in the summer months as there are hordes of people on the beaches and in the shops. June and September are the best months to take the family to the beach so you can still enjoy the warm climate, but avoid the masses.

The Amarante Golf Plaza Hotel sits on the Bay of St. Tropez and features luxury amenities like a swimming pool, fitness room, golf and tennis, and serves gourmet food in their on-site restaurant.

2. Paradise Island, Bahamas

Paradise Island is small at only 5 square miles, but it is heaven for beach goers. Besides the sandy beaches there are lots of fun things to do with the family including shopping along the quaint streets, eating local cuisine, or venturing through the 100-foot underwater tunnel to see sharks, barracudas, and stingrays.

The Atlantis is the premier location to stay in Paradise Island, with water activities for the kids and a full 18-hole golf course. On their Cabbage Beach you can parasail, jetski, and snorkel.

1. Surfers Paradise Beach, Australia

Surfers Paradise Beach is our top pick because of the selection of activities for people young and old. The beaches are gorgeous, the water clear and inviting, and a ton of fun attractions at the Gold Coast. There are plenty of theme parks like Sea World and Movie World. Activities run the range from shopping, laying on the beach, snorkeling, surfing, fishing, and even bungee jumping. At night they have hopping clubs and a casino.

The Gold Coast International Hotel is far and away the best pick for luxury accommodations in Surfers Paradise. Featuring spacious rooms, top rate service, clean swimming pool, world class restaurant and bar, the beaches should be the first destination when traveling to Surfers Paradise, on Australia's Gold Coast.

Last allowance to my Mother

This is a video of my family and I at Seaworld 2007. My mother had always wanted to go so I saved up every penny I had for months plus quite a bit of my college financial aid to pay for everyone to go. I wanted to do something for everyone to spend time together as a family for her because she was sick but deserved it too. So this video is for my family. And the beat is done by my wife. :) Sorry, the video quality is bad, and this is all the footage I had. UPDATE 2009: My mother had a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Essentially that is a tumor in the intestine. Well, it was discovered a few years back, and the doctors said that it was benign and that they should have surgery to take it out. Because my family was one of millions that have no insurance (because of the corrupt system we have) and we couldnt afford it they decided not to get the surgery. We found out a year later that it was indeed malignant and it had spread to her stomach. After 4 more years of a painful deterioration my mother passed away Aug 8, 2008. She was 38 years old... I hope this in some way incourages people to support healthcare reform, it is needed. My mother did not need to die at 38 years old. (anyway, I thought i should update so that everyones questions could be answered.)

Sea World Orlando Is Not To Be Missed

Sea World is a major attraction in Orlando, drawing in countless tourists every year. The amusement park is so popular that it remains one of the biggest reasons people visit the city. Anybody heading to Orlando should make a point of visiting this fantastic park. You won't regret it.

Made famous by such popular animals as the killer whale Shamu, Sea World has the potential to entertain the whole family for many hours. You can catch a variety of different animal shows at the park, and you can take advantage of all sorts of amusement park activities. Shamu the whale can't be missed, of course, but don't forget that there are plenty of other interesting animals that will amaze and excite you and your family.

Another great attraction that Sea World offers is its dolphins. You can jump right in the water and play with these friendly creatures. This type of interaction is not just fun, but also a learning experience, particularly for kids. Dolphins remain one the prime attractions of Sea World, and rightly so. You'll find hundreds of them within the park's boundaries, all smiling at you in that special way.

When you go to Sea World, you'll have a chance to check out forms of life you might never have imagined existed. You can offer food to the animals, and even figure out how many teeth sharks have, up close and personal. Better to find that out in the safety of Sea World! Really, Sea World has no parallel in amusement parks. It's one of a kind.

For further entertainment, you'll find a lighthouse that's haunted, and a variety of rides that will keep your spirits soaring for hours. Pick up a day pass and enjoy everything you desire. It's a paradise for both children and adults.

A newcomer to Sea World is a show called `Believe.' It's a new way to see the magnificent Shamu. You'll be blown away by the breathtaking beauty and grace of the show. It's something that cannot be described in words.

The Sea World experience is truly an unforgettable vacation that will offer a little something to everyone. Kids will be in heaven, and the adults accompanying them won't get bored either; that's for sure. There's everything from wondrous sites to great dining at this amusement park par excellence.

Don't miss Sea World. It's not possible to describe every single attraction it has, because there are so many great ones. So find out for yourself on your next visit, and see the beautiful creatures of the sea closer than you ever imagined possible.

Southern California Travel - Top Five Places of Things to See and Do When in Southern California

When you travel to Southern California, it's always wise to keep a checklist of the top places to see and things to do. To better help you plan your next invigorating escape to this amazing destination, here are my picks for top five places and things to see and do when in the Sunshine State.

Hollywood Boulevard: Don't miss the Walk of Stars, where the most famous actors, actresses, film producers and directors have their very own star decorating this walkway. Other notable sites include the world famous Whiskey A Go Go - where Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix performed - the Viper Room, and hundreds of stores and shops that line this amazing, historical street; a must-see when you travel to Southern California.

Pacific Coast Highway: Is a few hundred mile stretch of highway that is one of the most famous and historical highways in the United States. The views that you will see when driving along the Pacific Coast Highway are second-to-none. Stop off at any of the dozens of beaches along the way to lie in the white sand and watch the tide roll in.

San Diego Zoo: One of the largest and most amazing zoos in the entire world awaits you with more animals and exhibits than you will find almost anywhere else in the world. Make sure that you have a park map, sunscreen and some bottled water handy, as this park demands one or two days to really take it all in and see all of the sights.

Santa Monica Pier: This pier sits alongside Boston's and New York City's as one of the most famous piers in the entire country. The best time to visit it is at night, when the shops and the trademark Ferris wheel are all lit up brilliantly. One can easily spend hours of time walking from vendor to vendor, people watching, strolling along the beach, or visiting the many different attractions.

Sea World: One of the largest and most exclusive water parks in the world is the place to go if you want to catch one heck of show. Learn about exotic large fishes, and see some pretty fabulous shows. If you get lucky, you can even pet the bottlenose dolphins or offer them a tasty, fishy treat.

Orca bang kills SeaWorld trainer

A SeaWorld killer whale seized a trainer in its jaws Wednesday and thrashed the woman around underwater, killing her in front of a horrified audience. It marked the third time the animal had been involved in a human death. Distraught audience members were hustled out of the stadium immediately, and the park was closed. Trainer Dawn Brancheau, 40, was one of the park's most experienced. It was not clear if she drowned or died from the thrashing. A former contractor with SeaWorld told the Orlando Sentinel that the whale, Tillikum, is typically kept isolated from SeaWorld's other killer whales and that trainers were not allowed to get in the water with him because of his violent history. The park said it hasn't decided yet what to do with the whale. Brancheau's sister Diane Gross, of Indiana, said her sister "would not want anything done to that whale." Gross told the Associated Press that news of her sister's death "hasn't sunk in yet." A SeaWorld official said that because of Tilikum's size and involvement in two previous deaths, trainers were not supposed to get into the water with him.

4 Ways to Find Sea World Discount Tickets

Do you know which is the world's largest marine adventure theme park? Yes you're right. It's Sea World San Antonio, the 250 acre Texas theme park which showcases different forms of marine wildlife (such as shamu, dolphins, sharks, seals, sea lions etc), 6 exciting rides, world class animal shows and close encounter with marine life and exhibits. No wonder it's currently ranked as one of the top 5 most popular attractions in Texas!

While it's doesn't exactly cost you an arm or leg to let spontaneity guide your Sea World San Antonio vacation, planning well ahead can be the gateway to great savings. Especially if you're know where to get Sea World discount tickets. But just how much can you save with such cheap tickets to warrant the hassle?

Let's illustrate this with some calculations. If a family of four (2 adults and 2 children between 3 to 9) decide to spend 2 days at the park, buying Sea World tickets for each day at the gate will require at least $392. But if the same family gets their tickets online and prints them at home, they get to visit the marine adventure park for just $196. A 50% discount! Do note that the figures used in this illustration is subject to changes so always check the existing prices before making your plans.

Perhaps you may be asking "So, where can I get such Sea World discount tickets?". Here are some tips :

(1) Buy & Print Get Your Tickets Online Via Sea World's Official Website

Getting your tickets before reaching the gate helps you slash a modest percentage off the price. For a start, if you get single day passes online and prints them at home, you'll get 10% off each ticket (subject to conditions). Should you decide to get the multi-day tickets, 2 days of fun at the marine paradise will only cost you the price of 1. While you're on the website, browse through the "specials" for any promotions which you can further take advantage of. Who knows? You may save much more than you thought!

(2) Stay At Sea World Preferred Hotels

Sea World has a list of preferred hotels which throws in free vacation access passports along your stay with them. These passes allow each guest unlimited access to the park during their period of stay and that alone is a great saving! Besides, staying at such hotels can enhance your holiday experience since they're within such close proximity to the parks.

(3) Special Privileges For AAA Members Senior Citizens & Military Personnel

Do you know that if you're a AAA member, senior citizen or military personnel, you're also entitled to specials for Sea World admission? AAA members receive special discounts while for senior citizens get a $3 off a single day pass. As for military personnel and 3 of their dependents, they get a complimentary admission each! Remember to identify yourself at the gate

(4) Buy Unutilised Tickets or Passes Via Online Forums, Classifieds, Auctions

Yes, one man's junk is another's treasure. If you're willing to scour through some of these classifieds like Craiglist or auction sites like eBay, there are great bargains waiting to be found. People are letting go of their unutilized tickets almost for nothing. For example, a set of 3 child admission tickets are selling at $20 on eBay. That's a whopping $115 saved off the gate price!

Whale Kills Trainer at Sea World

SeaWorld Trainer Killed By Whale A Sea World killer whale snatched a trainer from a poolside platform today and thrashed the trainer around underwater, killing her in front of a horrified audience. It marked the third time the animal had been involved in a human death. Distraught audience members were hustled out of the stadium immediately, and part of the park was closed. Trainer Dawn Brancheau, 40, was rubbing Tilikum after a noontime show when the 12000-pound whale grabbed her and pulled her in, said Chuck Tompkins, head of animal training at all SeaWorld parks. Park officials say the veteran trainer drowned. Audience member Eldon Skaggs said Brancheau's interaction with the whale appeared leisurely and informal at first. But then the whale "pulled her under and started swimming around with her," he told The Associated Press. Skaggs, 72, said an alarm sounded and staff rushed the audience out of the stadium as workers scrambled around with nets. Skaggs said he heard that during an earlier show the whale was not responding to directions. Others who attended the earlier show said the whale was behaving like an ornery child. Another audience member, Victoria Biniak, told WKMG-TV the whale "took off really fast in the tank, and then he came back, shot up in the air, grabbed the trainer by the waist and started thrashing around, and one of her shoes flew off." Two other witnesses told the Orlando Sentinel that the whale grabbed the woman by the upper arm and tossed her ...

San Diego Family Vacation

There are lots of things to do in San Diego, Sea World, and the world famous San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park. The air is much easier to breath than Los Angeles and the scenery is phenomenal. To plan your perfect family vacation to San Diego you should narrow down your choices so that everybody enjoys the day.

Sea World is great place to spend the whole day watching shows and if you want you can feed and play with the dolphins. They have water rides so if it gets too hot you can cool off while riding Shipwreck Rapids or Journey to Atlantis. There are afternoon and evening shows featuring Shamu and other shows that focus on sea lions. There is even a sea lion show that makes fun of all the other show. Make sure to sit in the back if you don't want to get wet. To have a once in a lifetime experience you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner with Shamu.

The world famous San Diego Zoo is a wonderful place to take the family. They don't call it world famous for nothing. You can ride the Skyfari aerial tram from one end of the park to the other and witness a view of the whole zoo. There are shows for the kids and they can get involved with Mr. Zoolittle and learn about household experiments. You can bring your lunch into the park and find a shaded area and sit down. If you decide to ride on the bus tour they have up top seating and down below, if it's a hot day its best to sit on the bottom.

The San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park is a great place to experience a safari type setting. You can walk around and view all the animals and take pictures. There is a car tour that takes you on a 30 minute drive and tells you about how the San Diego Zoo is taking care of animals. For those who want to ride in style they offer a personal Segway so you can tour the whole park without ever taking a physical step.

Another place to visit in San Diego is Knott's Soak City. It's the same as Knott's Berry Farms Soak City but minus one ride, the luge. It's a great way to cool off and relax while the kids play in the wave pool. Many of the rides have a height requirement but if a parent rides along the child can ride too.

The best value is to buy a park pass that lets you visit the zoo, the wild animal park and Sea World. You can get extra perks like a ride on the Skyfari at the zoo and a safari tour at the wild animal park. Sea World has plenty of show to keep everybody entertained. Make sure to get your family photo taken when you arrive at each park, you can view your photos before you leave.

Enjoying a Florida Vacation

If you are up for exciting vacations that are truly appropriate for adventurous people such as you and your friends, Florida vacations are definitely something that you will enjoy experiencing.

The beach is the primary attraction in this state and its white and fine sand never fails to mesmerize frequent visitors and tourists. These relaxing beaches provide a calming effect to an individual. It is less crowded compared to the beaches of other states. That is why despite the numerous activities that people can engage in while staying in Florida's beautiful beaches, visitors still manage to find enough time to relax.

Speaking of activities you can get busy with during your Florida vacations, you'll never run out of water activities to indulge yourself with. A few such activities are scuba diving, parasailing, surfing and a lot, lot more. If you're not familiar as to how these activities work, there are many mentors or instructors hanging around the beaches ready to render their services and help you learn. Also, you can get in touch with nature by grabbing the chance to have a closer look at Florida's wildlife and ecosystem.

Having enough of nature sight seeing and beach bumming, you cannot set aside the other wonderful things that Florida has to offer. There are also extra-ordinary museums, shops and restaurants you can pay a visit to. On the other hand, if you are hooked on very well-known theme parks, be sure to include Walt Disney, Sea World Adventure Parks and dinner shows in your itinerary.

There are a lot of available vacation/tour packages you can dig up. Do not forget to manage your schedule while on vacation to avoid missing out a particular trip. You cannot afford to miss even a single Florida location. Remember, not everyone has the chance to witness this beauty!

Guide to Stromness - Orkney Islands

Stromness - Orkney Islands is a town in the very north of Scotland amidst the seventy Orkney Islands. Stromness is on of the twenty of these which are inhabited. This area has always been very advanced. There is evidence of high activity in prehistorical times. Advanced buildings--round buildings--were discovered in the Orkney Islands, dates as being built long before their time.

Due to the fact that Stromness is on an island--and all of the islands once belonged to Norway--it is needless to say that fishing and shipping is the prime market. Agriculture is strong in this area, but not nearly as strong as it could be were they not on islands. It is too difficult to move animals and there is not enough pasture land.

Stromness was the center of Orkney's advancement. This is an easy feat, since Stromness is on what they call "Mainland, " which is the largest island in the archipelago. Being the second largest town of Orkney, it is only natural that the town would pull ahead and lead commerce.

It became important in the late 1600s during yet another war with Britain's great rival, France. Shipping men and sailors were put to the test, since the normal trading route through the English Channel could not be used. Other ports were closer, of course, but Stromness's pride was its shipping and boats.

The town itself is very quaint, with just over two thousand residents. There is a ferry crossing to get you from Stromness to Scotland proper, but that is the only way apart from airplanes. It dealt with a lot of whaling in its time and though that has been cut back due to the endangered nature of the animals, Stromness residents still boast their whale bone relics.

The area has strong historical ties, especially religious ones. The town is a parish capital, and has an old monastery and ancient burial grounds. Though it is not a religious pillar in the Christian world any more, it is a place of note for scholars.

Maker's Mark - Dipped in History

Built in 1805, this National Historic Landmark is America's oldest working distillery still in its original location along Hardin Creek in Loretto, Kentucky. In 1953, Bill Samuels, Sr. purchased what was then Burk's Spring Distillery. He began experimenting with the old family recipe tracing back to 1780, replacing the rye with red winter wheat.

Samuels' wife, Margorie, was the creative mind behind the bottle. As a collector of pewter marked by their maker and cognac bottles dipped in wax, she was inspired to create the family symbol SIV, Samuels 4th generation. This led to the name Maker's Mark and the signature bottles hand-dipped in red wax.

After all of the Samuels' hard work and innovation, the first bottle, aged 6 years, was sold in 1959, but the company didn't make its first profit until 1967. That same year Bill Samuels, Jr. joined the family business and then in 1968, Bill and Margorie's daughter, Leslie, created the first visitor's program.

In 1980, Maker's Mark was the first alcoholic beverage facility to become a National Historic Landmark. This news was featured in the Wall Street Journal and jump started the company's sales growth. By the 1990s, Kentucky's distilleries were becoming popular tourist attractions, soon to known as the Bourbon Trail.

Since the early 1800's, Kentucky's famous distilleries have crafted the world's finest bourbons, using secret recipes and a long-established process passed down from generation to generation.

Step into our country, and let it sweep you off your feet. We have every thing you need in Bourbon Country.

And if you take advantage of Australia travel deals, your trip will cost you less than you expect.

Of course, you need not spend your entire holiday in the outback. You can also take tours to wineries and the famous Ayres Rock. Planning a trip requires thought about the not-so-fun parts of vacations. Whatever Australian state you visit, you'll find excellent hotels and inns to fit every budget and style; but you need to make reservations in advance. You will also want to know where to find banks, buses, embassies, dentists, and health clinics. Hopefully you will not have any medical emergencies, but you need to be prepared, just in case.

When visiting Orlando and particularly the theme parks, it is strongly advisable to start with SeaWorld Adventure Park, as its stadium style shows ensure short queues under the heat. The park features sea lion, dolphin and orca shows, which run at particular times; therefore it is also good to plan in advance the day with the help of a show schedule.

Situated just opposite to SeaWorld, there are no roller coasters and all people need is swimming suits and snorkels for the day.

Wet 'N Wild

Considered America's best water park, Wet'N Wild has attractions for the entire family. It was also given the first Lifetime Achievement Award by the World Waterpark Association thanks to its high quality service and world-class thrill rides, which ensure a full-day of fun. It is run by Universal Studios Recreational Group since 1998 and it is strategically located on International drive.

Aquatica Park

Aquatica, SeaWorld's waterpark has got the most thrilling rides amongst Orlando's water parks. There are two river rides, a couple of massive wave pools, more than 30 water slides and white sand beaches, surrounded by the most amazing and exotic sceneries. The park is part of the Worlds of Discovery, who also run Busch Gardens Tampa and Adventure Island.

World of Difference: Animal Rescue

For over 40 years, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Discovery Cove have maintained a quiet commitment to the rescue and rehabilitation of animals in need - be they ill, injured, orphaned, or otherwise requiring care. What has become an extraordinary commitment did not start as a grand idea. Quite the contrary. It began with a single animal in need of help. Our staff committed their time, effort, and energy toward the rescue and rehabilitation of that first animal. Then one rescue became two. Two became three. Today, over 17000 distressed animals have been sheparded through our rescue program. (That's the equivalent of helping one animal every day since that first rescue way back in 1965!) So what started as a single act of kindness has become a singular commitment to animals in need. We may not speak of it often. We may not speak of it loudly. Without question, though, our Rescue & Rehabilitation program is one of our proudest efforts. It is a core part of who we are and what we strive to be. To find out all about who we are, please visit: www.worldsofdiscovery.com To find out more about our Rescue & Rehabilitation program, explore www.swbg-animals.org

Strategies For Getting the Best Disney Specials

One of the happiness in life for the young at heart is the presence of Disney specials. Generally speaking, these are discounts, giveaways and other extra treats provided for by the Disney management to encourage more people to patronize their theme parks, resorts and attractions.

However, these Disney World package deals may not come to your attention as fast, as easy and as convenient as you want them to be. After all, you cannot spend your time constantly scouring the news, looking at the official company website and asking around for the deals, discounts and specials available. It will not make you happy, not even with the thought that you will be going to the happiest place on Earth.

Here are strategies proven to getting the best of the best in Disney specials. Choose one or combine everything for maximum effect, if it is possible to do so.

Purchase an Annual Pass

An annual pass presents many opportunities to save money on your vacation. Of course, there are certain circumstances in which the annual pass is best applied for. As an example, it is best to apply for the annual pass when you intend to stay for 10 or more days at the Walt Disney World Resort for more than once annually.

You will be able to avail of discounts on the rooms for up to 45 percent off the regular rates, in addition to discounts on tours, recreation, merchandise and dining options. Only one in your party needs to be an annual pass cardholder in order to secure the generous room discounts. Keep in mind, however, that the annual pass also demands doing your math and research. You want to be able to determine the savings with and without the pass especially in the case of once-in-a-lifetime Disney specials.

Rent DVC Points

DVC stands for Disney Vacation Club, which the company's take on the popular timeshare program of resort companies. Needless to say, the timeshare units in Disney are definitely the most enjoyable in the relaxation industry or Disney resorts are not the happiest places on Earth. Plus, your family will definitely appreciate the amenities of each unit including a fully-furnished kitchen.

The beauty of the DVC is that you need not own a unit since you can always rent it. There are two ways to do so: First, you can rent a unit directly from Disney although this is often on a very limited basis. Second, you may rent a unit from the owner with the added advantage that the rental fee is often at half of what you would have spent had you went for the first option.

Both of these options can be considered as Walt Disney World specials in many ways. You will also be qualified for a few special treats such as access to Magical Express transportation and Disney's Dining Plan, to name a few.

Anybody can avail of the Disney specials. It just takes a little bit of imagination, information and ingenuity along with the professional services of a specialized travel site.
