A killer whale at central Florida's SeaWorld amusement park killed a trainer on Wednesday. Dawn Brancheau, a veteran trainer with 16 years of experience at the park, died before rescue teams arrived. Reports say she was rubbing the orca whale's head, named Tillikum or Tilly, when the animal pulled her into the Shamu Stadium pool, thrashing her around by the waist. This occurred just minutes before a performance, the tragedy instead resulted in an emergency evacuation of the stadium. Killer whale shows have been suspended at all SeaWorld Park locations nationwide. SeaWorld is owned by the Blackstone Group, ticker symbol BX. Blackstone is trading up 1% Thursday morning, at $14.15 per share.
